Looking for films in English in Stuttgart? You do not need to open a stack of cinema websites and hunt for the one undubbed session each week. English Cinema Stuttgart already gathers the English-language screenings from cinemas across the city onto a single page, and the listings are updated daily.
That is the whole idea. Instead of checking each cinema separately, you check one place.
What do OV and OmU mean?
Most films in German cinemas are dubbed into German. Stuttgart cinemas use these labels for screenings in the original language:
- OV (Originalversion): the original version, usually without subtitles. This means English audio only when English is the film’s original language.
- OmU (Original mit Untertiteln): the original version with subtitles, often German subtitles over the original soundtrack.
Neither label alone guarantees English audio. OmeU means original audio with English subtitles, which can accompany another language. English Cinema Stuttgart only includes screenings with English audio; English subtitles alone do not qualify. Our film listings bring those sessions together. When booking on a cinema’s own broader site, check the screening’s audio and subtitle languages.
Which cinemas show films in English in Stuttgart?
These are the Stuttgart cinemas we track for English-language screenings. Each page shows what is currently playing in English there.
- Corso Cinema International sits in Vaihingen, south of the city centre, and has a programme focused on original versions. Its official English site describes these as mostly English, with some subtitled films and occasional Ukrainian-dubbed screenings; check the individual showing when booking there.
- Innenstadtkinos is right on Königstraße, the main pedestrian shopping street in the centre, and regularly carries English-language shows.
- Atelier am Bollwerk is a central cinema that programmes original-version screenings alongside its regular slate.
- Delphi Arthaus Kino is an arthouse cinema in the centre that leans towards independent and original-language titles.
- CinemaxX Stuttgart Liederhalle, by the Liederhalle at Robert-Bosch-Platz, adds the occasional English-language mainstream release.
You can see the full set of cinemas we cover, including ones that only show English films now and then, on our cinemas page.
How do I find out what is on this week?
Start with today’s English screenings, or browse the films page for later dates. It lists what is showing in English right now, drawn from across the cinemas above, and it refreshes daily as programmes change. If you would rather have it come to you, subscribe to the weekly newsletter and get the English-language screenings in your inbox.
Whether you are new to Stuttgart or just visiting, the answer to "what is on in English" now lives in one place instead of a dozen cinema websites.
